Friday Fictioneer: Amira

For Madison Woods‘ Friday 100 word photo-prompt(picture above)-flash-fiction challenge.

These paper wings have long betrayed Amira, they lie as decoration to an equally tampered mind – chocolate eyes and candy poles for legs, she’s a figure of little distinction – but the men are curious, there is a consideration – in her step, posture and voice – she flutters meekly to strand a few words together, communicating the poetry of some unnameable sea. The men lie with her and try to teach her pleasure, she is immune still – like grabbing a cloud, stabbing cotton –“Happy is all that you have, because it is all I am”  she whispers – hinting the death of some teenage dream, that has yet to know of its mortality.
